John Reed, an owner operator partnering with Roehl Transport, was recently profiled in the February 2021 issue of GI Jobs magazine.
 
The profile appeared in a section of the magazine called "Industry Intel: Transportation." John got his CDL through Roehl in 2016, and he became an owner operator in 2018.
 
John served in the Army National Guard from 1982-1988 and then in the Army from 1998-2008. He also served as a Defense Contractor in Kuwait 2009-2010 and in Afghanistan from 2010-2015 in the Security field.

GI Jobs magazine offers career advice and tools to help transitioning military members find the right jobs, education, and vocational training during and after leaving the military.

John completed our two-year Department of Labor & Department of Veteran’s Affairs approved Apprenticeship Program. John noted that trucking was a good fit for him. Our program allows eligible military veterans the opportunity to collect their GI Bill monies while completing their apprenticeship. Plus, we offer paid, on-the-job CDL training for those who want to get into the industry.

GI Jobs is published and distributed to service members through the military’s mandatory Transition Assistance Program (TAP). The article notes that truck driving jobs offer many pathways to personal and professional goals, a sentiment echoed in the article by Tim Norlin, Roehl’s Vice President of Driver Employment who said, "Our training and resources allow veterans to be their best and to pursue their career objectives.”
