Steps to Obtaining Your Minnesota CLP and CDL - Become a Commercial Truck Driver
In order to become a commercial truck driver in the State of Minnesota, you must obtain a Minnesota Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP), followed by a Minnesota Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). With this in mind, there are several important steps you must complete in order to accomplish this:
- To Apply for A CLP, Minnesota Residents Must Current Hold A Valid MN Driver’s License (Class D)
- Age Requirements
- You Must Be 18 Years of Age in Order to Drive A Commercial Truck in The State of Minnesota. You Must Be 21 Years of Age If You Will Be Driving a Commercial Truck Out of State. This Also Applies to Commercially Driving Passengers in the State of MN
- Identification Requirements
- You Will Need to Meet Certain Medical Standards
- Minnesota Provides Information on Medical Requirements
- Study for Your State of Minnesota Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP)
