- You are hired and paid as an employee on day 1.
- You'll be paid while you get your CDL.
- Your paid training to get your CDL is three weeks and is available in multiple locations.
- We provide lodging and most meals.
- After you have your CDL, you'll continue your on-the-job training as a long haul truck driver with Roehl.
- If you were to go to a CDL school, you would not get paid while you are training AND you'd have to come up with the tuition for the school.

How Roehl's Get Your CDL Program Works
Upon completion of an application and acceptance into Roehl's Get Your CDL program, each student becomes an employee and completes a course at our Gary, Indiana based training center. There's classroom learning as well as actual skills training on commercial vehicles, preparing students to take -- and pass -- the commercial licensing exam. Training is intensive and thorough.
The second phase of training puts each driver on the road to work with a Certified Driver Trainer. You'll drive together for approximately three weeks. You will not be driving as a team - you'll drive and your trainer will instruct. Or your trainer will drive and you'll observe. On actual routes, you'll learn freight-handling and customer service techniques, more about trip planning, fuel efficiency, commercial vehicle maintenance and safety, on-board electronics and company policies.
Phase three is when you'll be assigned a truck and assume primary responsibility for planning a route. You'll be on your own, on the road, earning full mileage pay. You'll still have 24-7 support from an individual fleet manager, and you'll enjoy full company benefits
