Tim Norlin on Sirius XM at MATS
Tim Norlin, Roehl's Vice President of Driver Employment, recently joined KC Phillips on RoadDog Live at the Mid-America Trucking Show. Tim talks about how Roehl continues to innovate driver pay, covering how Roehl was one of the first major carriers to pay practical route miles, then how Roehl moved to address-to-address practical route miles and now to Roehl’s new mileage band pay scales.
Tim shared that the driving force behind these pay plan changes is Roehl’s CEO, Rick Roehl (who started as a driver and still maintains his CDL). Tim also explained how Roehl’s building tours so drivers know where they will be going before their week starts. KC asks Tim about equipment and supply chain issues, and how that impacts our drivers. Tim covers how Roehl’s maintenance team measures time in in the shop in minutes not days.
KC notes that Roehl is very driver-centric – focused on keeping drivers moving and that the company has a very diversified customer and freight base – covering flatbed, refrigerated and dry van.
