Owner Operator OTR Opportunities

The spectrum ranges from owner operators, people who have their own truck or who lease a truck, and have experiencing picking up and delivering freight. Many owner operators are experienced company drivers, the second experience level.
 

Experienced Driver OTR Opportunities

Experienced drivers may have as little as six months driving for a company or as many as four decades (Roehl has several drivers with more than 35 or 40 years on TeamRoehl). Before experienced drivers hit the road solo, many will start their careers as a student driver.

 

On the Job OTR Training for Inexperienced Truck Drivers

More companies are providing over the road trucking jobs to inexperienced drivers because the trucking industry is short so many truck drivers. Because truck drivers are in such demand, trucking as a career is a stable profession. However, it’s important to fully research the company you join, if you are a student driver, because that first trucking company that trains you for over the road driving work sets the course for the rest of your career. Get Your CDL & OTR Job

The final experience type is where everyone else on the spectrum starts: before you can get an over the road truck driving job, you need a Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL). Roehl offers a first of its kind program to pay people while they get their CDL, which reduces the barriers to entry for those looking to make truck driving a career.
