Roehl Transport has nominated Charles Jones, Jr. and Kathleen Carreto for the Transition Trucking: Driving to Excellence Award, a national competition for America’s top military rookie driver.

Charles Jones

Charles served in the United States Army, and after retiring, he attended Georgia Driving Academy, where he obtained his CDL. He then joined Roehl through our Safety & Job Skills Training Program. Charles is a driver in our Van 7/4-7/3 HOMEtime PLUS Fleet.

“Charles has a great attitude, he is a safe driver, he cares about our customers, and he delivers all his loads on-time. Charles communicates effectively and timely when issues arise, and he’s very patient and helpful when it comes to solving problems,” shared Eric Barber, Roehl’s Director of Van Operations.

“Charles has an intrinsic motivation to lead with his performance and do better for others – at Roehl we call those values being Driver Driven, Doing the Right Thing, Delivering Success and operating safely by driving the Roehl Way to Protect Others,” Barber continued.

Kathleen Carreto

With over 12 years as a member of the Army National Guard, Kathleen “Kat” Caretto joined Roehl Transport through the company’s on-the-job CDL training program because she wanted more “hands on” work.

“A self-starter, Kat lives Roehl’s values of Delivering Success and being Driver Driven. Our teammates and our customers can depend on her,” noted Eric Wilson, Roehl’s Director of Refrigerated and Dedicated Operations. Kat is a member of Roehl’s Midwest Regional Refrigerated Fleet, and she’s driven more than 36,000 accident-free miles so far with the company.

Presented by the U.S Chamber of Commerce Foundation's Hiring Our Heroes Program (HOH), Kenworth, and FASTPORT, the winning driver takes home a Kenworth T680 truck after a year-long competition among veterans, guard members and reservists who have made the successful transition in the trucking industry following military service. Roehl Transport has repeatedly been recognized as a Military Friendly Employer, and the company has had a driving teammate in the semi-finals every year since 2018. Joseph Campbell won the award as a member of TeamRoehl in 2019, and two other Roehl drivers have finished as the first runner up in their year of the competition.
