How Roehl's Get Your CDL Program Works
Upon completion of an application and acceptance into Roehl's Get Your CDL program, each student attends a four-week course at our Gary, Indiana based training center. There's classroom learning as well as actual skills training on commercial vehicles, preparing students to take -- and pass -- the commercial licensing exam. Training is intensive and thorough.
The second phase of training puts each candidate on the road to work with a Certified Driver Trainer. You'll drive together for approximately three weeks. You will not be driving as a team - you'll drive and your trainer will instruct. Or your trainer will drive and you'll observe. On actual routes, you'll learn freight-handling and customer service techniques, more about trip planning, fuel efficiency, commercial vehicle maintenance and safety, on-board electronics and company policies.
Phase three is when you'll be assigned a truck and assume primary responsibility for planning a route. You'll be on your own, on the road, earning full mileage pay. You'll still have 24-7 support from an individual fleet manager, and you'll enjoy full company benefits
