The role consist of various claims activities. This role will be active in accident claims including subrogation and cargo/accident intake. The primary responsibility of this position is to intake accidents and cargo calls and to actively work, analyze and resolve claims and incidents in auto liability including negotiating property damage claims and subrogation claims. This includes management of independent adjusters, potentially private investigators, various experts and suppliers.
The Fit:
The ideal candidate will have an Associate degree or paralegal certificate, or equivalent work experience. Preference to paralegal experience. Two years’ relevant experience preferred.
- Intake accident and cargo calls compassionately from our drivers or persons with property damages.
- Ensure accuracy and efficiency in obtaining details for documentation of an event.
- Demonstrate attention to detail and practice active listening.
- Utilize customer service skills via multiple forms of communication, such as email, telephone, and teleconferencing platforms
- Objectively review and evaluate claims for negligence, liability exposure, damages, subrogation potential, fraud, compensability DOT recordability, and other jurisdictional issues and place or recommend an appropriate reserve for property damage, expenses, and company damages.
- Aggressively manage the initial and ongoing field investigation either directly or using independent adjusters, when necessary, with an understanding of fair claims handling practices.
- Ensure that action plans and strategies are being executed.
- Have solid organizational skills, phone skills and strong writing skills
- Develop strong cross department internal interactions to assist drivers and support claims.
- Be self-motivated to investigate applicable statutes, regulations, or case law to support claims handling.
- Have the ability to work in various computer system platforms that include Microsoft Word, Excel, One Drive and PowerPoint along with in house programs.
- Have an understanding how to illustrate objectively claim details to others, including Roehl Leadership.
