Daylight Savings Time Begins
March 12, 2023
Daylight saving time begins at 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 12. To handle the time change, your TruckPC unit will be locked from 11 p.m. central time on Saturday, March 11 for an hour until 12 a.m. Sunday. The time on the unit will then jump ahead to 1 a.m. No action on your part is needed.
During the locked time, the black notification area of the HOS screen will feature a message stating: (Please wait while software adjusts for time change. This will complete in XX:XX).
The system will prevent any changes to duty status during the time change. If you log out during the time change, the system will move to default status and will not allow changes to another status. After the time change is complete, the system will un-lock and you can make status changes. The time will read 1 a.m. Sunday.
Being on a rest break (off duty or sleeper berth) during this time is recommended. It is not required.
Call your fleet manager, business advisor if you are an owner operator or your extended operations or safety teammates if you have questions or want help.

Turning on Fuel Pumps using Mobile Apps
Easier, More Convenient and More Secure
Several of our fuel vendors are encouraging drivers to use their smartphone apps to turn on the fuel pumps.
The advantages turning on the fuel pump with the vendors apps include ease of use, more convenience and faster data entry as well as being touchless and more secure.
At some locations turning on the pump with an app or going into the truck stop will be the only options so we are creating additional resources to help you connect your EFS card to the vendor apps.
Step 1. If you have not already done so, you’ll want to add the Flying J, Loves and TA/Petro Apps to your phone. You will find links to the apps in the Additional Resources section of the My Roehl App main menu.
Step 2. If you have not already registered, follow the app’s instructions.
Step 3. Add your EFS card as a payment option.
Step 4. Use the appropriate app to pay for fuel from the convenience of your truck while in a fuel lane.
You can find more information in the My Roehl App News Hub.

National Nutrition Month
March is National Nutrition Month. Join the Roehl Wellness Program as we celebrate nutrition. The benefits of healthy eating add up over time and it’s never too late to start.
According to the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, about 117 million adults suffer from one or more chronic diseases due to improper nutrition and lack of exercise. These chronic diseases include obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and some kinds of cancers. The typical American diet is too high in calories, sodium, sugars, and saturated fats. This means our diet doesn’t include enough fruits, vegetables, whole grains, calcium, and fiber.
During this month you are invited to learn more about making informed food choices and developing healthy eating habits.
To learn more about how you can become involved in National Nutrition Month, visit our
Health and Wellness page.

March 28th is Diabetes Alert Day: Do You Know Your Risk?
1 in 3 adults has prediabetes—yet 80% don't know it.
Prediabetes is a serious condition caused when your blood sugar levels are higher than normal. Having prediabetes increases the risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke.
That’s why Roehl Transport offers Omada, a health program that provides proven, one-on-one support to help prevent type 2 diabetes and related health issues.
Know your risk. You may be at risk for prediabetes and type 2 diabetes if:
- You are 45 years old or older. The older you are, the higher your risk.
- Prediabetes and type 2 diabetes is in your family. If your parents or siblings have it, you may have it or develop it.
- You are overweight or physically inactive. Being overweight is one of the most common risk factors.
- You've had COVID-19. Research shows that COVID-19 may increase risk of getting diabetes within a year.
From an Omada member: “If you join Omada you can take it slow or jump all in. You can utilize what you want. It is built for success and worth a try.” - OMADA MEMBER, LONGVIEW, WA

If you would like to nominate a fellow teammate for our Living Our Values recognition program, please click here.
Join me in congratulating our monthly winners Lucas Heart, Marketing Manager, and John Mielke, National Driver Trainer on the Refrigerated fleet. Each was chosen for their phenomenal work of exhibiting one or more of our values. These two individuals will go on to be entered into a quarterly recognition group.
One of these valued teammates may be selected by our esteemed leadership team who will pick one non-driver and one driver to
win a prize each quarter.
Thank you to everyone who nominated a fellow teammate for the Living Our Values Recognition Program in January. We received many honorable nominees who excel at living Roehl’s values.

Meet Birdie, one of our Get Your CDL Driver Recruiters!
"I love being a driver recruiter for Roehl, selfishly,
for the rush of changing peoples’ lives
and having an impact," she said. "A career has
such a major impact on people's lives and
getting in on an exciting opportunity that will
change their life or missing out on one really can change the way people live."
Birdie said she often becomes a "friend,
philosopher, counsel, and guide" to the
candidates she works with. "People take advice
from me and allow me the space to help them
shape their destiny."
So, what's the magic formula that keeps her motivated? Birdie cites a mixture of "adrenaline, caffeine, and endorphins" that helps her stay on target. "Our team desires success,"
she emphasized.
We're so grateful for Birdie's insights and
everything she does to create Driver Success
in her role with #TeamRoehl.

If anyone has an idea to incorporate for next year, and/or if there are suggestions for improvement on any of the fundraising efforts, please let us know by emailing UnitedWayOrders@roehl.net.
On behalf of the United Way Committee, we thank you all for everything you do for TeamRoehl, and specifically for your help in this United Way campaign.
