Operation Safe Driver Week is July 10-16

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s (CVSA) Operation Safe Driver Week is July 10  through July 16. Please watch this video. You will find information to help create your success.  

Please drive The Roehl Way and Do Safe all the time. Know where you can find your hours-of-service log information and your ELD instruction manual on the My Roehl app so you can show an officer, if you are asked. If you do not know where to find these, please reference the ELD Training at  RoehlYou or ask your fleet manager, business advisor or our teammates in safety for help. We want to help you be successful.

Help Reduce Idling

Our driving teammates can help reduce idling by turning off all accessories and battery management when parked off duty. In 2021, we won our 10th EPA SmartWay Excellence Award, and we were named a Green Supply Chain Partner by Inbound Logistics magazine. Idling a truck uses about 1 gallon of fuel per hour. Reducing idling saves fuel, reduces fuel costs and supports our values of Doing the Right Thing and Driver Driven. At Roehl, we live our values!

On June 16, one of our TeamRoehl drivers, Glen E., showed other drivers what it meant to live the Roehl Values of Doing the Right Thing & Safety.
As he was climbing out his truck to make one last trip inside before he took off for his shift, Glen noticed smoke from not very far away. After a quick second glance, he realized that another truck only three spots down from him had its hood open with smoke rising from near the firewall. After alerting the driver they both tried putting out the flames. Glen called 911 while the driver kept trying to disconnect his batteries. Thankfully the fire department showed up quickly and took over.

The damage to that driver’s truck was pretty bad, but thankfully was able to be maintained and not spread to any other rigs nearby.
Glen was thanked with a nod and a wave and continued onto his shift.

T-Mobile Cell Phone Issues

If you have a T-Mobile cell phone, please use the MyRoehlApp callback feature instead of calling the Driverline. We are aware of some issues with callers who are using T-Mobile cell service. The audio from the caller does not come through our system. Using the callback feature in the My Roehl App is a workaround until T-Mobile can fix their issue.

CVSA Brake Safety Week is
August 21-27, 2022

In addition to reporting total inspections and brake-related out-of-service violations, inspectors will also capture and provide data on brake hose/tubing chafing violations – the focus area for this year’s Brake Safety Week.

REMINDER! 2023 Health Insurance Premium Discount

Complete a routine preventive care visit with your primary care provider by July 31 to save money on your medical premiums in 2023.

Employees on the Roehl medical plan and their enrolled spouses who complete a visit with their primary care provider between August 1, 2021 and July 31, 2022 will qualify for discounted medical premiums in 2023. This discount can save you up to $286 per year for Employee Only or Employee + Children Coverage or up to $572 per year for Employee + Spouse or Family coverage (please note, to obtain the full discount both you and your covered spouse will have to complete a primary care visit).

To receive the discount, complete your routine preventive care visit with your primary care provider before July 31, 2022. Roehl will be notified of those who qualify to receive the discount prior to Open Enrollment, meaning you will be able to see the discount as you complete the 2023 Open Enrollment process this Fall.
