Spring Thaw

From December 1 to May 1 every year, state highways must withstand an extreme range of moisture and temperature conditions from -30 degrees to +70 degrees Fahrenheit. These varying conditions affect the structural strength of the pavements and the base materials under the roadway.

Some roadway sections are too weak to withstand even the legal load limit (80,000 pounds) during the springtime freezing and thawing period. These highway sections have signs posted indicating the allowable weight limits during the period, normally from the second week in March until late April or early May.

Our fuel and routing does not account for the roads that are restricted due to spring thaw. For information on particular roadway postings, drivers are urged to contact the Department of Transportation personnel who represent the county where the roadway is located.

Visit the My Roehl app News Hub to find out what roadways this impacts.

If you have questions or want help, please contact your fleet manager or business advisor if you are an owner operator.

Truckers Against Trafficking

TeamRoehl is a proud sponsor of Truckers Against Trafficking.

Truckers against Trafficking is a non-profit organization that exists to educate, equip, empower and mobilize members of the trucking and the travel plaza industries to combat domestic sex trafficking.

Truckers Against Trafficking recognizes that members of the trucking industry and individual truck drivers are important in the fight against this heinous crime.

As the eyes and ears of our nation's highways, you are in a unique position to make a difference and close loopholes to traffickers who seek to exploit our transportation system for their personal gain.

Members of our industry have demonstrated their effectiveness in reporting suspicious activity to law enforcement so authorities can arrest perpetrators and rescue victims.

Learn how you can get involved and support the fight against human trafficking.

Tasty Twist Challenge

Ready for a New Twist on Healthy Eating?

Packed with vitamins, minerals, and fiber, fruits and vegetables are truly nature’s upper foods!

Eating a generous amount and selection of fruits and vegetables daily may help reduce your risk of developing high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes and some forms of cancer. Not to mention a diet rich in these tasty treats aids in weight management.

Yet fewer than 25% of adults consume the recommended amount of fruits and vegetables each day. More alarming is that one in three American adults report consuming, on average, less than two servings daily.

With all the amazing health benefits associated with eating fruits and vegetables, it’s time to ramp up our intake of these tasty and nutritious treats. And that is just what the newest wellness challenge, Tasty Twist, is all about.

Tasty Twist is a fun 6-week challenge to not only increase the quantity of fruits and vegetables that you consume but to also vary your selection from day to day. Participants will track their daily intake on the Tasty Twist tracking sheet and compete to earn awesome prizes.

Enroll today for the Tasty Twist wellness challenge. All individuals who complete the challenge will be entered into a drawing to win a crockpot! In addition, all participants will receive a reusable container halfway through the challenge!

More matters – eat a wide variety and generous amount of fruits and veggies daily with the Tasty Twist wellness challenge!

National Nutrition Month

March is National Nutrition Month. Join the Roehl Wellness Program as we celebrate flavors from cultures around the world!

According to the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, about 117 million adults suffer from one or more chronic diseases due to improper nutrition and lack of exercise. These chronic diseases include obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and some kinds of cancers. The typical American diet is too high in calories, sodium, sugars, and saturated fats. This means our diet doesn’t included enough fruits, vegetables, whole grains, calcium, and fiber.

This month, we’ll learn more about making informed foods choices, developing healthful eating habits, and celebrating the nutritious flavors from other cultures!

To learn more about how you can become involved in National Nutrition Month, visit our Health and Wellness page.
